The Wildwoods, NJ – September 11, 2019 - Morey’s Piers in Wildwood, NJ was named the 2019 Park of the Year by Amusement Today Magazine at the 2019 Golden Ticket Awards. The annual awards ceremony was held at Silverwood Theme Park in Idaho on September 7.

Personally chosen by Gary Slade, publisher and editor-in-chief of Amusement Today, this year’s Publisher’s Pick Awards for Park of the Year was presented to Morey’s Piers for celebrating 50 years of innovation, creative success, and providing vacationing families along the Jersey Shore with a variety of rides and experiences.

“Morey’s Piers stands as a one-of-a-kind example of how an amusement facility can become synonymous with a community,” said Gary Slade. “As we recognize great achievements at the Golden Ticket Awards each year, the Publisher’s Pick allow me to bring attention to things that are really special in the amusement industry. Morey’s Piers is just that — completely special. The piers have helped define Wildwood and in turn become an integral part of the summer beach vacation. The Morey’s team stands as a leader for many parks to look up to and has for 50 years.”

“Recognition from Gary Slade, publisher and editor-in-chief of Amusement Today, is especially meaningful because of his vast knowledge of the industry,” said Will B. Morey, Director of Water Park Operations and third generation family-member of Morey’s Piers. “We are thrilled to be celebrated as park of the year and know this honor wouldn’t have been achievable without our employees, community and guests.”

Morey’s Piers strives to continually create distinctive experiences for guests while also staying true to its values and core identity as a seaside amusement park serving families. As measured in terms of rides and attractions, Morey’s Piers ranks among the two largest multi-generational, family-owned amusement parks in the U.S. with 61 rides and two full scale water parks across three piers.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary, Morey’s Piers unveiled a new ride, The Runaway Tram. The family-friendly roller coaster pays homage to the recognizable Wildwood Sightseer Tramcar, an icon of the Wildwood Boardwalk since it debuted 70 years. A total investment of four million dollars, the Runaway Tram has one train with 10 two-person passenger cars and climbs 40 feet before coasting, twisting and turning riders along 922 feet of track.

Morey’s Piers received the Golden Ticket Award for “Best Seaside Park” by Amusement Today at the 2015 Golden Ticket Awards.
