World War II Lookout Tower in Cape May, NJ

 

WORLD WAR II LOOKOUT TOWER
Located on Sunset Blvd. in Cape May it was part of coastal defenses during World War II, this 100 ft. tower built in 1942 is the last lookout tower remaining on the southern New Jersey coast. For a small fee, visitors can climb a staircase where Observers answer questions and can view displays and exhibits honoring veterans.

 

 

 

 

 

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall replica in Wildwood, NJ

 

VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL WALL
The only permanent Vietnam Memorial replica in the Northeast, is an exact, half-size, black granite replica of the official Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. It has the 58,913 names of our country’s fallen heroes from the Vietnam War etched on its panels and stretches for 240 feet along the sidewalk of Columbus Park in Wildwood, NJ.

 

 

 

 

 

CAPE MAY POINT SCIENCE CENTER

The Cape May Point Science Center, established in 2022, is situated at the southern tip of New Jersey, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Delaware Bay, creating a vital and biodiverse ecosystem. Housed in the historic 38,000-square-foot building that once served as the Saint Mary by-the-Sea retreat for the Sisters of St. Joseph, the center offers educational programs and research opportunities focusing on environmental conservation and the study of migratory species.

 

 

 

The Tatham Life Saving Station and Museum

 

THE TATHAM LIFE SAVING STATION AND MUSEUM
Located at Second Ave. and 117th St., the Stephen C. Ludlam American Legion Post 331 has diligently preserved this former Life Saving Station built in 1895 and is the oldest building in Stone Harbor. Free guided tours of the Life-Saving Museum and Military Memorabilia Museum are offered from Flag Day in June thru Labor Day.

 

 

 

 

9/11 Memorial in Avalon, NJ

 

9/11 MEMORIAL PLAZA
Located at 2000 Dune Dr. in Avalon, the 9/11 Memorial was created as a place for reflection and features a steel I-beam artifact recovered from Ground Zero at the World Trade Center. It rises 9’-11’’ above the Plaza, and leans towards Manhattan at 9 degrees, 11 minutes and represents the ebb of flow of life, love and water.

 

 

 

 

 

U.S. Life Saving Station 30 in Ocean City, NJU.S LIFE SAVING STATION 30 – OCEAN CITY
The Station Museum located at 4th Street and Atlantic Ave. dates to 1885 and was home to those who rescued passengers and crew from the shipwrecks that occurred during that time. It includes a boat room, kitchen, living quarters and station office. Come experience how these brave surfmen responded to the shipwrecks and people in need along the shore.
